The Hope Refugee Sewing Project empowers refugees in Buffalo, NY, through teaching the skill of sewing. The Sewing Project is a creative solution to help refugees, especially women, cultivate profitable skills while overcoming language, literacy, and cultural barriers. The program equips refugee sewing students with vocational literacy, sewing supplies, and micro-enterprise education.
“Becoming a refugee drains you of self-worth and a sense of pride in who you are. Developing a skill like sewing helps to restore dignity and hope.” ~Togolese refugee
The Sewing project is a program of Hope Refugee Services with Jericho Road Ministries, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization.
